Church of the Divide

"Expressing God's Love in a Whole New Kind of Way"

Who We Are: Church of the Divide is a group of Bible-believing followers of Jesus Christ, meeting in homes on the Georgetown Divide, near Placerville, California. We are opposed to the institutional model of "church" in America and desire a return to the biblical model of Christians meeting together in homes as the Church (Rom. 16:5, Col. 4:15, Phm. 1:2). We believe in interactive meetings, with all members participating (1 Cor 14:26). We see no Scriptural basis for one paid pastor to "lord over the flock" (1 Pet. 5:3) but rather follow the Scripture's teaching of having a plurality of qualified male elders oversee the church (Acts 20:17, 1Tim.3:2).

Our Mission: We believe in the public proclamation of the Word of God and follow the example of Jesus Christ and His disciples (Matt. 4:17, Mark 6:12).

We exist to fulfil the Great Commission given to us by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ:
"Go ye therefore and TEACH all nations, BAPTIZING them into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; TEACHING them to observe ALL THINGS whatsoever I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." -Matthew 28:18-20

Our Style: We believe in relevant teaching, as commanded by our Lord in the Great Commission and as such, we focus on issues currently being debated in the culture around us. God has called His church to be a light to the world, piercing through the darkness, and that is what we intend to be.
